ŠKODA unveils ENYAQ iV 80 FestEVal: equipped for camping and music festivals
ŠKODA recently unveiled the ENYAQ iV 80 FestEVal, a version of its iV 80 wagon that packs important components for camping, music festivals or other outdoor adventures.
For summer 2022, ŠKODA UK has developed and built the unique ENYAQ iV 80 FestEVal. Trunk-mounted camping box with extendable bed, deluxe roof tent and additional camping gear enables zero-emission travel and accommodations at festivals and camping.
“Every element of the ENYAQ iV 80 FestEVal’s camping setup is designed to be effortless.” the company said in a press release detailing the project. “The space-saving camping chairs and table are set up and folded down in seconds, ready to use as soon as campers arrive on site. Once the music stops on stage, campers can keep the party going with the sound system ENYAQ iV’s eight-speaker system, while interior mood lighting adds extra atmosphere to parties.
The star attraction of the ENYAQ iV 80 FestEVal is an innovative camping unit designed by the Czech manufacturer EGOE. The EGOE “box” is one of the first in its size and dimensions, fitting precisely into the spacious 585-liter trunk. It slides easily out of the trunk of the car on smooth rails, providing a comfortable and sturdy double bed with memory foam mattress, as well as generous storage space underneath. It is ideal for people on the go who need to sleep during their trip or park at their destination without having to lie down. The versatility and design of the device allows the use of the rear seats even when traveling and, when parked at a campsite, it offers one of the two sleeping areas of the ENYAQ iV 80 FestEVal.
For those who want to camp in style and comfort, the ENYAQ iV 80 FestEVal also comes with a premium roof tent. The suite-like sleeping area takes electric car serenity to new heights, with a memory foam mattress, LED lighting and panoramic views through the skylight. The tent itself can be set up and taken down in minutes and features a net inside for storage, a solar-powered fan and a built-in torch for added comfort and convenience.
ŠKODA claims that the tent does not consume too much range when folded, as it has an aerodynamic design that works with the vehicle’s already sleek body. They give a drag coefficient of 0.257, which isn’t great, but compared to most RVs, it’s not bad.
The ENYAQ iV is the ideal vehicle for all-electric journeys, with an unrivaled interior volume of 585 liters (1,710 liters with the rear seats folded down) and a range of up to 538 miles between charges. With speeds of up to 135kW, charging to 80% in less than 30 minutes and over 10,000 public charging stations across the UK, the ENYAQ iV is perfect for long journeys and spontaneous adventures .
The only real question I have at this point is why we don’t see vehicles like this in the United States. Electric vehicles are, in many ways, an ideal camping vehicle. They are quiet, have a long range and, with the right equipment, can be quite comfortable. They provide power when boondocking or can recharge at RV parks while you sleep. So far, we’ve seen a few companies like Rivian and Bollinger try to break into the US adventure vehicle market with electric pickup trucks and SUVs, but nothing really targeted at the camping and adventure-based market. on cars and wagons.
