Ranking Every Worlds Song From Worst To Best
Updated September 23, 10:51 (GMT+8): Added the new Worlds 2022 theme song, “STAR WALKIN'”.
There’s nothing like a good theme song to get you going. You know that, and obviously Riot knows that because every year for League of Legends Worlds they collaborate with a different artist and always manage to put out an absolute bang.
But which Worlds song was the best? With nine picks, here’s how we ranked all of the Worlds songs from worst to best.
Ranking Every Worlds Song From Worst To Best
9. Burn It All by PVRIS (2021)
8. Worlds Worlds Collide by Nicki Taylor (2015)
7. STAR WALKIN’ by Lil Nas X (2022)
6. Ignite by Zedd and Tim James (2016)
5. Take over from A Day to Remember’s Jeremy McKinnon, MAX, Henry (2020)
4. Phoenix by Cailin Russo and Chrissy Costanza (2019)
3. Legends Never Die by Against the Current (2017)
2. Rise by The Glitch Mob, Mako and The Word Alive (2018)
1. Warriors by Imagine Dragons (2014)
9. Burn It All by PVRIS (2021)
While its music video features top art and animation co-created by Riot Games and Haoliners Animation League, the Worlds 2021 theme song “Burn It All Down” sounds a bit lackluster.
The rhythm and melody of the song sounds like something we’ve heard at previous World Championships. Simply put, “Burn It Down” is the love child of other songs from the “Legends Never Die” and “Phoenix” worlds.
8. Worlds Collide by Nicki Taylor (2015)
Taylor’s Worlds Collide may be last on this list, but it’s still a great song. The problem is, he had to keep up with Imagine Dragons’ Warriors, which, let’s face it, was going to be a monumental task for anyone.
Worlds Collide starts slow but gets more intense as it reaches the “We are the ones” chorus line. Oddly enough, it’s also the only Worlds song without an animated music video which could also be attributed to its underrated status.
7. STAR WALKIN’ by Lil Nas X (2022)
“Why worship legends when you know you can join them? »
From “Montero” to “Old Town Road”, American singer Lil Nas X never disappoints. His new song, “STAR WALKIN’”, is totally awesome, written and produced by the pop star himself.
The clip features pro gamers Jo “CoreJJ” Yong-in, Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon, Tian “Meiko” Ye, and Marek “Humanoid” Brázda around iconic landmarks in San Francisco, California, the destination city of the world final. .
Pulling a page from a Japanese mecha tokusatsu (special effects) series, each of players’ iconic champions transform into a gigantic robot that bursts into an epic battle scene.
STAR WALKIN’ is everything a pop song should be: upbeat, catchy and keeps you going. The song is refreshing and different from previous Worlds Anthems, especially with its slow piano ending that would definitely make you feel some kind of way.
6. Ignite by Zedd and Tim James (2016)
Ignite is probably your favorite Worlds song if you’re an EDM fan. American musical genius Zedd was the artist behind the steep beat drops, partnered with vocals by singer-songwriter Tim James.
The official animated music video will also give fans chills as it features iconic Worlds moments from the first half of the decade such as Paul “soaZ” Boyer’s backdoor Rumble in Season 4 and the Assassins’ epic win. from Taipei during season 2.
5. Take over from A Day to Remember’s Jeremy McKinnon, MAX, Henry (2020)
Admittedly, the Worlds song titled “Take Over” isn’t as loud as the previous ones on first listen. It’s kind of like Riot wanting to follow up on their previous Worlds song, Rise.
However, we suspect that Take Over will be one of those songs that will grow inside you the more you hear it, and the next thing you’ll know is that you’ll have Last Song Syndrome (LSS).
We also love the Mandarin Chinese rap section, performed by Mandopop singer Henry Lau.
4. Phoenix by Cailin Russo and Chrissy Costanza (2019)
This Worlds song is quite different from most Worlds songs. Phoenix features the angelic vocals of Cailin Russo and Against the Current singer Chrissy Costanza.
Phoenix might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but you can’t deny that it’s extremely eye-catching.
Coincidentally, the big winner at Worlds 2019 was LPL team FunPlus Phoenix. The chorus of the song “Fly, fly, Phoenix, fly” seems to have been composed especially for their victory!
3. Legends Never Die by Against the Current (2017)
Speaking of catchy songs, this theme song from rock band Against the Current’s Worlds is truly a legend and has never left Summoners’ hearts.
Costanza’s soft but firm vocals are a great contrast to the solid rhythm of Legends Never Die. We totally love the construction of the chorus!
2. Rise by The Glitch Mob, Mako and The Word Alive (2018)
What do you get when you put a metalcore band, an electronic band and a DJ in the same room? An absolute bang, what is it!
Listening to Rise just makes everyone want to play an awesome game of League of Legends and have a great time. It’s an uplifting song that asks the ultimate question: can you rise to the challenge?
1. Warriors by Imagine Dragons (2014)
Even after eight years, admit that you still come back to this classic. Warriors was the first song dedicated to the prestigious global event, and it remains the best. Warriors has powerful lyrics and an amazing music video. It also helps that Warriors is sung by Imagine Dragons, who are huge League of Legends fans themselves.
“It’s part of our life, it’s part of our history,” singer Dan Reynolds said. “Our fans just want to know our story, and so creating a song and doing it with something that we love, that’s cool for us, that’s cool for our fans, we’ve been really happy.”
Prime: We also love this stunning take on Warriors that Riot Games did with 2WEI and Edda Hayes.
