Pinkfong Baby Shark has joined BLACKPINK and BTS to become one of the most beloved Korean icons on YouTube.
Pinkfong said it received the YouTube Custom Creator Award for surpassing 50 million subscribers on its official English YouTube channel.
As the award recognizes each channel’s unique characteristics, Pinkfong’s Custom Designer Award features a yellow shark fin in the blue ocean, inspired by Pinkfong’s flagship brand, “Baby Shark.”
The Custom Creator Award, also known as the Ruby Play Button, is a special award given by YouTube to commemorate channels that have reached 50 million subscribers. Among South Korea-based artists, only BLACKPINK, BTS, and Pinkfong Baby Shark have reached this milestone, turning the K-pop waves into a cultural phenomenon with record-breaking content.
Pinkfong became the first children’s brand to receive the YouTube Custom Creator Award worldwide. Pinkfong Baby Shark – Kids’ Songs & Stories, the official English-language YouTube channel of global children’s entertainment brand Pinkfong, surpassed 50 million subscribers as of June 29.
Since receiving the Diamond Button by reaching 10 million subscribers in August 2018, the channel has experienced explosive growth with an average annual subscriber growth rate of 30%.
With the global megahit “Baby Shark Dance”, the # 1 most watched video in YouTube history with nine billion views in August 2021, Pinkfong Baby Shark has expanded its presence across the globe. Pinkfong presented the preschool series “Baby Shark’s Big Show!” with Nickelodeon and announced that its films and season 2 are in development.
On the other hand, BLACKPINK is the first Korean YouTube channel to receive the personalized YouTube play button by surpassing 50 million subscribers in October 2020. It now has over 63.6 million subscribers.
BTS’s âBANGTANTVâ has over 55.8 million subscribers on YouTube. Recently, their music video “MIC Drop (Steve Aoki Remix)” reached a billion views on YouTube.
