In-game music festivals are coming to The Sims 4

If you feel like not showering properly and sleeping in a tent on the weekends to watch live music, fear not. A sort of mini music festival is coming to The Sims very soon.

Sims Sessions is an in-game music festival set in the virtual world of The Sims 4 that was announced earlier this week.

And while the older generation Simmers (that’s us, by the way) may never have heard of the artists performing at upcoming events, maybe those of us who play for 20 years are no longer the main target market of the game. No lack of respect for artists, for that matter.

The lineup will include the return of two-time Grammy nominated pop star Bebe Rexha. The sims and will perform in Simlish as lead singer of Glass Animals, Dave Bayley, and singer, songwriter and producer Joy Oladokun will take the stage in the virtual world.

While the Sims team has been somewhat frugal with the exact details, it seems reasonable to assume that some sort of new feature will be added with the next base game patch.

Currently there is a festival gameplay feature, but this is exclusive to expansion packs and the Sims Sessions announcement made it clear that players only need The Sims 4 base game to attend the performance.

Festivals are part of the City Living Expansion Pack (which was recently available as a free trial through Origin) and the Snowy Escape Expansion Pack, so there might be some similarity between how they work and these new live music festivals.

Challenge events also exist in the base game and have seen various interactions like the Rabbit Egg Hunt, Sprint Challenge, Day of the Dead, and PlantSim Challenge among others.

The world or batch that the festivals will be held in has also not been officially confirmed by The Sims at the time of writing, but from the promos it appears to be Magnolia Blossom Park in the Willow Creek neighborhood ( h / t Iron Seagull).

Ahead of the concert premiere on June 29, 2021, The Sims 4 base game and The Sims 4 Digital Deluxe are on sale on Origin and Steam.
