Hundreds Attend Lil Baby’s Back To School Festival At The West End Mall

ATLANTA, Ga. (CBS46) — Hundreds of families lined up to attend Grammy-winning rapper Lil Baby’s back-to-school festival Sunday afternoon at the West End Mall.

Atlanta police officials have blocked off part of Lee Street as the large crowd continues to disrupt traffic. Police ordered traffic to turn onto Oak Street at the Lee Street intersection to proceed to the Back to School Fest.

To help students prepare for the new school year, Lil Baby is excited to work with Goodr to bring something special to his hometown of Atlanta.

The event ends at 6 p.m. on Sunday.

According to a press release, the entertainer will be joined by 3,000 local children for a day full of music, games, carnival rides, free food, backpacks, school supplies and free haircuts.

Lil Baby will also provide free shoes and clothes from Foot Locker Atlanta to every child in attendance.

Sustainable waste management and hunger relief company Goodr was also on hand with an after school snack bar.

“We are grateful to Lil Baby for his continued resolve to give back to his community,” shares Jasmine Crowe, CEO of Goodr. “It’s an honor to continue to team up with such a household name to ease some of the financial burden people are facing.”

Last week, Lil Baby appeared in a music video with fellow superstar rapper Drake and DJ Khaled titled “Staying Alive.”

Last month, Lil Baby told CBS46 that he would work with prominent business owner Lemont Bradley to hire 100 people under the age of 21 in Atlanta.

“We’re looking to give 100 jobs to teens and young adults in the Atlanta metro area,” Lil Baby and Bradley said. “With the crime rate surrounding scams, robberies and even murder being so high, we seek to provide a positive outlet and source of income for those seeking income.”

He has also partnered with AX to create new men’s products called “WHAXE”.

Lil Baby is best known for hits We Paid, Yes Indeed with Drake, Forever with Lil Wayne, Every Chance I Get, The Bigger Picture and more. In early 2022, Lil Baby won a Grammy Award for Best Melody Performance for the song Hurricane with Kanye West and The Weekend.
