CHRHS is hosting a Sugar-Free Dessert Cabaret on February 7 – Knox County VillageSoup
ROCKPORT — Every February, the Chamber Singers and Treble Choir of Camden Hills Regional High School come together to present an evening of fine music and delicious desserts. This year, the Dessert Cabaret is a little more sugar-free since the desserts will not be served on site. Instead, there’s an auction of a few signature cakes that audience members can bid on to take home after the music event.
This year’s Dessert Cabaret is presented at the Strom Auditorium, 25 Keelson Drive, on Monday, February 7 at 7 p.m. and features a variety of musicals and contemporary solos, duets and full ensembles. A significant portion of the evening’s program features seniors sharing their favorite songs: Nora Finck, Aly Shook and Audrey Leavitt join in to sing Shrek’s “I Know It’s Today”; and Lucas Marriner-Ward accompanies himself and sings a few selections, including “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen. Joshua Kohlstrom sings a tenor rendition of “Loch Lomond”. Izzy Kinney joins her sister Maren to sing the duet “Fine”. Noelle Delano performs “Once Upon a Dream” from “Sleeping Beauty.” Iselin Bratz sings “Golden Slumbers” from The Beatles and Alyssa Bland performs “Popular” from “Wicked”. Additional solos and duets will be performed by Daniel McGregor, Skye Ray, Grace Yanz, Aly Shook and Audrey Leavitt.
The Treble Choir perform “City of Stars” from “LaLa Land” and are accompanied by Matt Mainster. The chamber singers perform “Seize the Day” from Disney’s “Newsies” and both ensembles perform “From Now On” from “The Greatest Showman.” The a cappella ensemble from CHRHS Fortissima, directed by Aly Shook and Audrey Leavitt, performs a few selections, including “True Colors”.
The event is open to the public. Spectators are asked to remain masked and socially distanced. Admission is by donation and will support future music festival travel. The snow date is Tuesday, February 8 at 7 p.m. For more information, email Kim Murphy at kim.murphy@fivetowns.net or call 236-7800, ext. 3295.
