An affiliate of Baton Rouge NBA rapper YoungBoy was involved in a two-car shootout that left three people injured over the weekend.
The shooting took place along Siegen Lane around 9:45 p.m. Saturday, near the entrance to Interstate 10 westbound. One of the cars fled onto the freeway, while the other stopped “due to damage,” according to Casey Hicks, spokesperson for the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Inside the car that stopped were three non-life threatening injured people, including 21-year-old Joseph Robinson, according to a source familiar with the investigation. The source requested anonymity as she was not authorized to speak publicly about the case.

Robinson is a rapper from Baton Rouge who performs under the name “BBG Baby Joe” and is an affiliate of NBA Youngboy, who has previously featured on Robinson’s songs.
NBA YoungBoy, real name Kentrell Gaulden, is currently in jail following an indictment in March for possession of a firearm as a criminal and possession of an unregistered firearm in his name in a federal database.
He was arrested in California following a traffic stop that turned into a brief chase. A federal judge in Baton Rouge said Gaulden should remain in jail until his trial, saying Gaulden was “prone to reckless, illegal and dangerous behavior”.
An associate of Baton Rouge NBA rapper YoungBoy pleaded not guilty on Thursday to the 2017 murder of rival local rap artist Gee Money.
Gaulden and his associates have a history of gun violence – Gaulden is the founding member of the NBA (Never Broke Again) group, which has argued against the TBG (Top Boy Gorilla) group for the past several years.
Another group known as the BBG (Bottom Boy Gorilla) group, of which Robinson is reportedly a member, is known to work with the NBA group in their rivalry against TBG. Law enforcement officials have previously described the three groups as gangs.
The feud has been escalating since 2017 after the murder of Garrett “Gee Money” Burton, a known member of the TBG, according to East Baton Rouge Parish Assistant District Attorney Stuart Theriot.
Deandre Fields, a Gaulden associate accused in Burton’s death, pleaded not guilty last May to gunshot him down. He himself was shot dead in April 2020 and local rapper Lit Yoshi was charged with attempted murder in state court.
The rapper, real name Meiyoshi Edwards, is a member of the TBG with several other attempted murder charges.

However, it is not known at this time if the feud is linked to Saturday’s shooting, if anyone else involved is an associate of Gaulden, or who could be the suspects and other victims.
Hicks said on Sunday that detectives had obtained little information from those injured.
