5 songs that prove that Anne-Marie is the queen of collaborations

With 6.6 billion streams to her credit, Anne-Marie is currently one of the UK’s most exciting pop stars. She first caught our eye in 2016 with her feature set to Clean Bandit’s hit song “Rockabye.” She has since supported Ed Sheeran on his 2017 Split the tour and made a name for himself with bangers like “2002” and “Ciao Adios.” Honestly, if you’re not stanning Anne-Marie then we don’t know what you are.

Throughout her career, Anne-Marie has never ceased to remind us that she is the queen of collaborations. From songs like “I Just Called” with NEIKED and Latto, to “Don’t Play” with KSI and Digital Farm Animals, we love Anne-Marie’s ability to work so seamlessly with other artists. So, we’re here today to round up some of our favorite Anne-Marie collabs and prove that Anne-Marie is, in fact, the reigning queen of collabs.

‘PSYCHO’ Ft. Aïch

Anne-Marie first teased this song on TikTok in June and we’ve been seriously on the edge of our seats waiting for her to drop the full song. Finally released on September 15, the lyrics to ‘PSYCHO’ discuss the idea of finding out that a partner is cheating on you with multiple people while pretending their exes are psychotic. In describing ‘the ‘PSYCHO’ song, Anne-Marie said:

“This song was inspired by a personal experience. I was once in a situation where the guy I was seeing would gaslight me when I suspected he was cheating on me, which he was (total mug)! It wasn’t right and I called him. This one is for anyone who has been in the same situation.

Anne-Marie was joined on this song by Aitch, a young British rapper who exploded in popularity thanks to songs like ‘Kiesha & Becky’ and ‘Baby’ as well as his features on songs like ‘Take Me Back To London’ by Ed Sheran. Already amassing over a billion streams and over 5 million record sales worldwide, Aitch is definitely one to watch!

‘Kiss My (Uh-Oh)’ – Anne-Marie and Little Mix

‘Kiss My (Uh-Oh)’ was released in July 2021 as the fourth single from Anne-Marie’s second album Therapy. It was the last single the Little Mix girls collaborated on before their hiatus began in early 2022 and we think it may be one of the most memorable collaborations they have ever worked on. Described as an electropop song with calypso influences, the single evokes the idea of leaving a toxic relationship and feeling a sense of release or freedom. This collaboration was made even more iconic by the music video they released with the single. Tribute to the 2011 film Bridesmaids, the video shows Anne-Marie and Little Mix during a bachelor party which promises to be both very chaotic and very fun. Seriously, where can we get invited to the next Little Mix and Anne-Marie party??

‘Our Song’ – Anne-Marie and Niall Horan

Now, this are an iconic couple. “Our Song” was released in May 2021 and was everything we could have expected from a collaboration between Anne-Marie and Niall Horan. Lyrically, the song discusses the idea of a specific song reminding them of an ex after a breakup, discussing how they find it hard to stay mad at their ex when this song is playing because it makes them feel so nostalgic. Weaving their voices together in a way that seems seamless, the two singers were able to craft a smooth, melodic song that really showcases their impressive vocal abilities. This collaboration is made even sweeter when you consider the fact that Anne-Marie and Niall are actually really good friends and have done several hilarious interviews together since the single’s release. What a great duo!

“Friends” – Marshmello and Anne-Marie

Like ‘Rockabye’, ‘Friends’ is another of Anne-Marie’s most successful collaborations. Discussing the act of “zoned friends” with someone, “Friends” is a catchy and addictive pop EDM song that you just won’t be able to get out of your head. Anne-Marie delivers a vocal performance that feels both strong and confident to perfectly encapsulate the feeling of frustration and anger that comes from being repeatedly zoned out by friends and rejected by someone. This idea is reflected in the music video, where we see Anne-Marie at a sleepover and constantly being approached by Marshmello and having to keep rejecting her advances. Currently racking up over 940 million views, it’s super fun music you won’t want to miss.

‘Damn I’m Alone’ – Lauv Ft. Anne-Marie

‘f*ck, i’m lonely’ is Lauv’s second track ~How I feel~ album and was released as the fourth single, after “Sad Forever” and before “Feelings”. “Fuck I’m Lonely” has a pretty explicit meaning, discussing the idea of missing someone from a past relationship and feeling lonely without them. This song perfectly captures the quirkier, funnier vibe that Lauv and Anne-Marie often strive for in their individual discographies, its instrumentation creating a fun and upbeat atmosphere while maintaining a sense of melancholy and nostalgia through the lyrics. Like Anne-Marie, Lauv is also incredibly good at collaborating with other artists, especially in association with artists like BTS, Troye Sivan and Julia Michaels. We think, however, that this might be our favorite Lauv collab to date.
